The Red Planet Farm is just 5 miles from the center of Providence, at 380 Greenville Avenue in Johnston.

From the start, we’ve benefited greatly from a group of great CSA members whose immeasurable support has helped us to build our farm dream into a livelihood.

In case you’re new to the concept, CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  When you buy a share early in the year, you are signing up for a season’s worth of the freshest Red Planet produce. Meanwhile, your dollars pay for the labor, supplies and equipment needed to grow that produce. Your membership is central to our business, decreasing the amount of risk we have to take on during this time of increasingly unpredictable climate changes. In return, we do our best to grow an exciting mix of vegetables, greens and herbs for you at a significant discount from what you would pay at the market.  You can also pay for a share using your SNAP benefits.

Shares are available in full or half sizes.  A full share is geared towards a small family or 3 or more adults, and half shares for 1 or 2 people.  Your share entitles you to 20 weeks of fresh-picked produce from our farm from June through October. The type of produce, and size of your share, will vary throughout the season. But every week will will strive for a healthy mix of salad and cooking greens, roots, fruits (by that we mean the fruit of the plant) and culinary herbs. That could mean a share that consists of peas, chives, spinach, radishes and lettuce in June and a September share of tomatoes, eggplant, broccolini, carrots, arugula and onions. Everything is grown on the farm without the use of chemical fertilizers and biocides.

Members who are interested in ordering additional vegetables will be able to do so at a discount off the market price.

And there will be opportunities throughout the season to join us at the farm to see where your food is coming from, join us for some work in the field, or just to celebrate.
